Meaning of Bounce Rate: in simple bounce rate means, when visitors visit a particular page and leave it without further navigation. It relates to landing pages. We can understand it with the example

You have a page “product” – When visitor directly comes on that page (Lading page) and don’t navigate further and leave the site either by closing the window tab, clicking on back button, Session timeout, clicking link of different website, typing different ulr in browser etc this is called as “bounce rate”

Reasons for bounce Rate: There may be several reasons for high bounce rate of a particular page and that can be categorized further as

The page is not relevant with visitor expectations or if visitors did not found what they are looking for on your site.

Complication in Navigation: If you site structure is not good, navigation links are not there, difficulty in navigation in case of scrolling navigation, user may leave the website.
Browsers Incompatibility: If your website is not compatible as per all the popular web browsers, you bounce rate would be high.

Irrelevant Meta tags & Content: If your website has not been optimized on relevant keywords it means visitor would not found what he is looking for on your page.

Irrelevant Referral websites: If you have advertised your website on irrelevant website either by banner or text links, then the bounce rate would be high.

Irrelevant title in CPC & Adword: If you are using adword, yahoo search marketing, Microsoft advertising or any other CPC program. You must give relevant title and description there in adcopy to get the right visitor. Target your audience on the relevant keywords only in PPC.

Target Audience: Only target your website where you need to sell your services to get higher ROI and lower bounce rate. This is possible in search engine marketing and in search engine optimization (organic). So now you can geographically target your website.

Product Services & Price: If you are lacking behind in customer services and charging higher than others for your product and services, your bounce rate & exit rate of that page would be high.

Use of Images: Now a day user likes image to understand their actual requirement. So If you provide or display image in every possible manner, you bounce rate would be low as he would like to search further for this product and services. Also provide description, its specification and price.



With the recent caffeine search engine update, your website may get out of list or move further in SERP as now visitor can tell the Google if the page is not as per their expectation. This relates to organic search results only. So always optimize on relevant keywords and target relevant audience only
